- What were your concrete goals for the week?
My goals for this week were to finish modeling all the speciality and individual explosives and start on the terrains. I also wanted to start working with DirectX.
- What goals were you able to accomplish?
We decided having a terrain was more important to testing out the games engine so I started working on terrains before finishing all the weapons. I hit a big snag because I'm having trouble exporting my files from Maya into the .x format. Learning DirectX has been slow going for me so I haven't been able to help as much with the games engine as I would have liked. Also, I checked with the music department for Nghiem and managed to line up some composers for our soundtrack. We'll see how that goes.
- If there were goals you were unable to meet, what were the reasons?
I think the main problem was switching what I was working on midway through because I started looking into where we could get original music from. Also, I need to figure out why I'm having all these Maya problems.
- What are your specific goals for the next week?
There's a lot of work that needs to get done with the games engine so however we split up the work tonight, I hope I can get a good chunk of my part done. Also, I need to figure out how to get the models I have finished in a workable form. After I get that done, I want to get back to pumping out some more models. Also, I'm hoping I can have some meetings with the music people so I can get them on the right track and finishing the tracks for us, nominally by 6th week but I think if we have to, we can use temporary tracks and slip in the real soundtrack as late as 7th week or the beginning of 8th week. I don't want the music to be up in the air any later than that.
- What is your individual morale (which might be different from the
overall group morale)?
still stressed out

- What were your concrete goals for the week?
To finish animating the panda mesh, export it to .x file format, and design a Player class which would encapsulate a multi-animated mesh along with other information useful to the engine.
- What goals were you able to accomplish?
I was able to figure out how to export the mesh as an .x file, but the animation still needs some tweaking.
- If there were goals you were unable to meet, what were the reasons?
I was able to get a single animation working but not multi-animation and I didn't finish the Player class. Although there are numerous samples and tutorials on the Internet, a lot of it is just deprecated code. Also, I've found that multi-animation is quite complex to implement and will take more time than I had originally anticipated.
- What are your specific goals for the next week?
To finish the animation and Player class.
- What is your individual morale (which might be different from the
overall group morale)?
I think we're finally getting into the swing of things, but we're still behind schedule.

- What were your concrete goals for the week?
My goal was to learn DirectX and start the game engine. I wanted the panda
to be on the screen and be able to move with input.
- What goals were you able to accomplish?
I have a better understanding of how DirectX works now. I helped Masa
get the panda to appear on the screen and move with input, but Masa did most
of it. Also, I made a small debug console that will probably be more helpful
later. I modulized a decent amount of the code that we were hacking to get
the panda on the screen, but it needs more work.
- If there were goals you were unable to meet, what were the reasons?
Although my goals were met, I felt I didn't do enough. A lot of time was
lost because of trying to understand DirectX.
- What are your specific goals for the next week?
I plan to work with Elizabeth and get some decent scene management.
Additionally, I want to refine the collision that Masa started. Possibly,
I want the camera to be fixed in 3rd person perspective.
- What is your individual morale (which might be different from the
overall group morale)?
I feel like I'm not doing enough. I need to really pick up my slack.

- What were your concrete goals for the week?
My goal was to finish modeling the six weapon containers for different terrans, also start working on actual code (server: collision detection, etc.)
- What goals were you able to accomplish?
I was able to finish with the modeling, but I couldn’t working on any of the coding part
- If there were goals you were unable to meet, what were the reasons?
I was struggling with 3ds max, it’s a new application to me, I couldn’t handle it well in the begining, it took me a lot of time spend on each models. However, I’m getting better now. So, in the future I might be able to switch bewteen the server and graphic part, which depends whoever need my help. I hope I can finish up with the last model, and help Jim with the server part.
- What are your specific goals for the next week?
My goal for next week is to finish implementing collision detection, and other part of the server. While the weapon should be finished, I should also cover how those “explosive material” collide with each character and the terran itself.
- What is your individual morale (which might be different from the
overall group morale)?
same as group moral ( I need to catch up!)

Nghiem
- What were your concrete goals for the week?
- Build Audio prototyping
- Email the Music Department to find a composer
- What goals were you able to accomplish?
- Play background Looping
- Play sound effects on top
- Hook up with keyboard to play the certain key for certain sound
- Build sound bank by loading all the music
- Control volume and panning (mostly play with those function)
- Thanks to Elizabeth, she helps me emailing ICAM department and we now have a composer
- If there were goals you were unable to meet, what were the reasons?
- Should use mapping from keyboard to specific sound from sound bank
- Unable to find many cartoon sound
- Indicate the distance from object to the sound source
- What are your specific goals for the next week?
- Help out with game engine if Masha and Jim need help
- Implement what I haven’t done this week
- Work with the composer
- What is your individual morale (which might be different from the
overall group morale)?
- Working on it

Masa
- What were your concrete goals for the week?
To have a basic game framework on which to build on. Have graphics up.
- What goals were you able to accomplish?
We got a basic graphics engine working but with no animation.
- If there were goals you were unable to meet, what were the reasons?
I had some problems with the graphics at first and that prevented me from
making progress on other areas of the game.
- What are your specific goals for the next week?
Get animation, collision detection, and networking integrated into the game.
Also, to start getting game code in.
- What is your individual morale (which might be different from the
overall group morale)?
My individual morale is a little better than last week because I was able to
get some more code working. But I still feel that our team is behind the
other teams and we really need to catch up!
